This one story residence is rectangular in plan and has a jerkinhead roof covered with composition shingles. Narrow shiplap siding sheaths the exterior. There are purlins on the gable end and an arched entry hood over the front door. The pipe columns on the front steps are a new addition. The building faces east on South Sixth Street and is in good condition.
The building was occupied by George Woods, fire chief in Independence during the 1920's and 1930's.
