This one and one half story residence is T shaped in plan with additions and has a steeply pitched intersecting gable roof with composition shingles. Wide shiplap siding sheaths the exterior, ending with cornerboards and caps. A concrete block foundation supports the building. The windows are one over one double hung wood sash with a projecting cornice. The gable roof extends to cover a porch with slightly battered porch supports. The porch balustrade has been replaced. The building faces west on South Second Street and is in excellent condition. Don and Maude Barton resided in the building for a number of years. Don had a barber shop on S. Main Street in Independence.
