Independence's first park, included in the original town platt in the 1800's, Pioneer Park is located at the corner of Seventh Street and C Street. The park has picnic tables, a playground and offers a beautifully shaded area nestled among tall, mature trees. The park is also located at the junction of the South Fork and Main Stem of Ash Creek and features an intact native riparian zone.
In fall 2012 a group of neighbors and volunteers will install a new playground for toddlers and kids age 5-12. For more information on the project, please see the Pioneer Park Playground Development page.
