In May of 2006, approximately 60 members of Monmouth Christian Church took time out of their busy schedules to spend a day working in Mt. Fir Park. After working with the city to identify needs in the park, the group removed a barb-wire fence from the park entrance, trimmed trees, removed massive amounts of invasive weeds, placed gravel in the parking area, planted trees, spread bark dust around the trees and edges of the park, removed five old picnic tables and built new ones on concrete pads. This was an inspiring project. All told, Monmouth Christian Church contributed approximately $10,000 worth of labor and materials and Mt. Fir Park looks like a brand new park. Pictures from the work day are below. You can also see the improvement yourself with before and after pictures.
