Earlier this year, the City of Independence created a mini-grant program to help businesses create new or expanded events and promotions that would help bring more customers to their business. Using ARPA (American Rescue Plan) dollars, this grant program was created to help drive additional sales for our businesses, create a more robust calendar of activities for people to enjoy in Independence, and enhance our dynamic local economy.
Four downtown businesses were each awarded $1,000 in grant dollars, with an additional $250 invested from each business to cover the remaining event costs. The business recipients include Golden Hop Saloon, Brew Coffee & Tap House, Indy Commons, and Girlfriend’s Place.
