Hello community –
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Serving as your mayor is an honor, and I’m grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me. Independence is a special place, and I’m committed to working hard to keep it that way. I also want to acknowledge and thank John McArdle for his remarkable years of service to Independence. His dedication and leadership have left a lasting impact on our community.
One of the things I appreciate most about our town is the people who make it run—our dedicated city staff, who keep things moving behind the scenes, and our city council, who bring different perspectives but share a common love for our community. We may not always agree on every issue, but I believe that by listening to one another and working together, we can do great things.
I also know that good ideas don’t just come from City Hall—they come from you. That’s why I’m inviting you to join me for weekly office hours and a monthly town hall. These are chances for us to connect, have conversations, and build communication that keeps our community strong. Whether you have a concern, a suggestion, or just want to say hello, I’d love to see you there. If you aren’t able to meet during those times, please don’t hesitate to reach out to mayor@ci.independence.or.us
- Weekly office hours are Wednesdays from 8:30-10:00 AM, Ash Creek Conference Room at the Independence Civic Center
- February Town Hall is Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Independence Heritage Museum
Independence has always been a town where people look out for each other, and I’m excited about what we can accomplish together.
In service to our community,
Mayor Kate
