Have you been curious about what our officers have been up to all month? The Independence Police Department is sharing a sample of the calls for service each month to inform and educate community members on the work we do.
In October 2025, officers engaged in 758 activities, including 29 Arrests (Adults and Juveniles), 9 check welfares, 19 domestic disturbances, 6 hit-and-run crashes, 21 emotional health calls, and 63 Suspicious Activity / Person / Vehicle calls.
OCTOBER 2025
- Officers responded to reports of three people fighting near an apartment complex, one of whom was armed with a knife. Two people were cited for disorderly conduct, and one person was arrested for menacing and disorderly conduct.
- Several 911 calls were made about a woman standing in traffic and causing cars to swerve to avoid her. The woman, who refused to identify herself, was arrested for disorderly conduct and was transported to jail.
- A community member reported a vehicle left running for hours with occupants appearing to be under the influence. When contacted, one of the occupants was found with drug paraphernalia and substances that tested positive for fentanyl or amphetamines. The drugs were seized, and the individual was arrested.
- Officers responded to a domestic disturbance and determined through their investigation that an adult and a minor were involved in an intimate relationship. The suspect was arrested and transported to Polk County Jail.
- Police were called to a disturbance at a storage facility where an individual staying in a car refused to leave. The person threatened employees with a metal pipe and then refused to follow orders from officers when they arrived. The suspect was arrested for menacing and unlawful use of a weapon and transported to the Polk County Jail.
