Have you been curious about what our officers have been up to all month? The Independence Police Department is sharing a sample of the calls for service each month to inform and educate community members on the work we do.

In November 2025, officers engaged in 660 activities, including 16 Arrests (Adults and Juveniles), 21 check welfares, 14 domestic disturbances, 7 hit-and-run crashes, 9 emotional health calls, and 57 Suspicious Activity / Person / Vehicle calls.

NOVEMBER 2025

  • Officers responding to a domestic disturbance located the victim and minor children, who reported that the suspect had broken items, thrown objects, and grabbed the victim during an argument. The suspect was arrested and booked on charges including strangulation, misdemeanor assault, and physical harassment.
  • Police investigated a report of a family member being struck multiple times during an emotional crisis. The suspect was issued a criminal citation for physical harassment.
  • A witness called 911 after seeing a vehicle hit a concrete post and noticing open containers inside. The driver showed signs of impairment, failed field sobriety tests, and later recorded a .21% blood alcohol content. Due to the level of intoxication and vehicle damage, charges included reckless driving and criminal mischief.
  • An officer stopped a speeding vehicle hauling a trailer at 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. The driver presented a photo of a suspended license and admitted knowing it was suspended. The driver was cited.
  • An officer located a reported stolen vehicle fueling up at a local gas station, and the driver was detained. Officers recovered a weapon, drugs, and multiple credit cards not belonging to the driver. The individual was taken to the Polk County Jail.
