Have you been curious about what our officers have been up to all month? The Independence Police Department is sharing a sample of the calls for service each month to inform and educate community members on the work we do.

In December 2024, officers engaged in 685 activities, including 55 Arrests (Adults and Juvenile), 21 check welfares, 18 domestic disturbances, 7 hit-and-run crashes, 8 emotional health calls, and 60 Suspicious Activity / Person / Vehicle calls.

DECEMBER 2024

  • An officer stopped a vehicle and discovered the driver gave false identification. After an investigation, the driver was found to have two warrants and was arrested for providing false information and on the warrants.
  • Two elderly residents reported recent thefts but declined to file official reports. Surveillance footage showed two suspicious individuals: one pretending to be a meter reader and another using a dark-colored truck and a red crossover vehicle. If identified, the individuals will be trespassed.
  • Officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving a weapon, which turned out to be a pull-up bar used to threaten others. The suspect was arrested for menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.
  • A domestic argument escalated, resulting in injuries to the victim. Further investigation revealed the suspect was a registered sex offender living at an unregistered address. The suspect was arrested for assault and failure to register as a sex offender.
  • Officers responded to a fight involving two individuals. One person was injured and transported to the hospital. The suspect fled but was later found and arrested for assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and disorderly conduct.
