Have you been curious about what our officers have been up to all month? The Independence Police Department is sharing a sample of the calls for service each month to inform and educate community members on the work we do.

In March 2025, officers engaged in 648 activities, including 28 Arrests (Adults and Juvenile), 14 check welfares, 13 domestic disturbances, 5 hit-and-run crashes, 15 emotional health calls, 60 Suspicious Activity / Person / Vehicle, and 1 DUII calls.

MARCH 2025

  • Officers responded to a physical altercation between two juveniles. One child reportedly threw a screwdriver, causing a minor injury. The case was referred to juvenile authorities, and the child was released to guardians.
  • Officers served a felony warrant for multiple counts of sexual abuse. The individual was lodged at the Polk County Jail.
  • Officers stopped a vehicle that was reported for erratic driving. The driver showed signs of intoxication and had a blood alcohol content of .13%. The individual was taken into custody.
  • Officers responded to a fight involving juveniles. After the incident, a vehicle drove by and one occupant reportedly displayed a firearm and issued threats. The investigation is ongoing.
  • An off-duty officer observed a known individual with an active warrant and made an arrest.
  • Officers stopped a vehicle for expired tags. The driver had an active warrant and was found carrying concealed weapons, including 3D-printed brass knuckles. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was moved to avoid a tow.
  • Officers attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle downtown. The driver fled and drove through a field before being spiked and stopped with assistance from Polk County Deputies. The driver passed sobriety tests but was charged with felony elude and reckless driving.
