Earlier in the week, the City of Independence along with several other municipalities and individuals were awarded the 2021 Regional Cooperative Project Award presented by the Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments. This annual award recognizes a partnership of local governments within the Mid-Willamette Valley region for a project or initiative that has best exemplified intergovernmental cooperation. This year’s award recognized a collaborative effort between the cities of Independence and Monmouth, Central School District, Polk County Fire District #1, Western Oregon University, SEDCOR, Senator Deb Patterson, and Representative Paul Evans to form the All Hands Leadership Group.

The trust, collaboration, and cooperation between these different entities allowed the group to respond with a singular voice to healthcare providers, the Governor, and funders on meeting the needs of their individual communities.

The All Hands Leadership Group extends its thanks to the Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments for this prestigious honor.
