Last Thursday, Mayor Kate hosted a Pub Talk on Understanding City Revenue, bringing neighbors together for an open and honest conversation about how the city of Independence is funded and how those dollars support the services our community relies on every day.

The atmosphere was laid back and welcoming, with lots of thoughtful questions, detailed answers, and even plenty of laughter along the way. It was a great reminder that even difficult discussions can be productive when we meet each other where weโ€™re at.

We encourage everyone to take advantage of these community engagement opportunities. Your questions matter. Your voice matters. Our local government is made up of people, and we are here to serve you.

Join us for Mayor Kate’s next Pub Talk on March 26, 2026, at 6 PM. We hope to see you there.
