Last Friday, public works staff conducted a site visit at the Willamette River Trail realignment, carefully assessing the progress on this cherished Independence amenity. Significant progress is being made, with excavation, grading, and marking well underway.
As a reminder, the temporary detour route will guide you along Main Street, with a right turn onto Grand Street, leading you to the Independence Dog Park. Traffic cones and signage are in place to ensure a smooth and safe passage. The north end of the trail remains open and accessible for those looking to enjoy a stroll.
In just a few weeks, you’ll be able to fully enjoy this iconic Independence landmark once again. The city greatly appreciates your patience and understanding as we work to enhance the safety and accessibility of this beloved trail for everyone in our community.
