A section of the Willamette River Trail in Riverview Park will be closed for realignment starting on August 8, 2024. The construction is expected to take three weeks. Please refer to the detour map to the right.
To continue your journey, head up to Main Street and turn right onto Grand Street, leading you to the Independence Dog Park. You can also start your adventure from the north end of the trail.
This realignment is necessary due to bank erosion along Ash Creek, which requires moving the path to ensure user safety. City staff thoroughly evaluated potential detours that could accommodate both equipment and pedestrians, but the options were limited due to the trail’s narrowness.
