Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Central School District 13J‘s Bridge to Success program to the Independence Civic Center!
The students spent their field trip diving into the inner workings of our city government. They learned how our Information Technology department plays a crucial role during emergencies, explored the Independence Police Department, and even cracked a mini-case with Sergeant (and our next Chief!) Tino Banuelos.
Their visit also included a mock city council meeting with City Manager Kenna West, where they tackled the challenge of balancing the city budget through a hands-on activity.
We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Central School District, helping more students discover the ins and outs of city government and nurturing the next generation of civic leaders.
