Event takes place on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, so this year it’s Saturday, May 10th from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Expected attendance is about 2500-3000 people.

featuring a ‘quiet hour’ between 1:00-2:00 PM.

Vehicle and space set-up will be available between 8:00-8:30 AM. Though the event officially starts at 9:00 AM, we anticipate that attendees may arrive earlier.

Touch A Truck Event

Do you have a job that lets you work with a vehicle you would have loved as a kid? Then Touch A Truck is the event for you! The City of Independence and SEDCOR are teaming up to showcase a wide range of careers where cool vehicles meet real-life adventure. This interactive, family-friendly event invites kids to hop into the driver’s seat of fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, tractors, and more.

Not only can they explore these powerful machines, but they’ll also meet the people who operate them and get a behind-the-scenes look at careers in public safety, transportation, construction, and emergency services. It’s a unique opportunity to share your pride in what you do, inspire young minds, and make the day unforgettable for thousands of kids and families in the community!

Touch A Truck is designed for children of all ages, though younger kids (ages 2–10) tend to enjoy it the most.

No, the event is free to attend! Donations to support the event may be encouraged.

 

Yes, a quieter hour from 1:00 – 2:00 pm is scheduled for sensory-sensitive guests.

For safety reasons, pets are not allowed at the event, except for service animals.

Expect a range of exciting vehicles, including fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, tractors, construction vehicles, and more

Yes, strollers are welcome! We recommend keeping a close eye on children, as the event space may be crowded.

The event is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly! In the event of severe weather, please check the website or social media for updates.

Parking is free. You can find parking along Main street, or the library. C Street and Riverview Park parking lot will be closed for the event.

Yes, photography is encouraged! Capture memories and share them on social media.
