The Vision 2040 process concluded in Spring 2020 following extensive public involvement. In April 2023, the City Council approved the City of Independence City Council Goals for 2023-2025. These goals were crafted by the Council to align with the City’s 2040 Vision, alongside other strategic plans and municipal services. By aligning with the Vision, the Council acknowledges the past efforts and contributions of the community and staff. The Vision 2040 serves as the cornerstone for setting the City Council’s 2023-2025 Goals, with the proposed budget designed to support these objectives and priorities.
