Protecting A Part Of Your Family
Licensing Your Dog Is Not Only A Legal Requirement, But It Also Helps Ensure Their Safety And Well-Being.
Make sure to license your dog responsibly.
In Independence, it is mandatory for all dogs that meet specific age and residency requirements to have a license, as outlined in ORS 609.100. Failure to comply with this regulation is considered a Class B violation, which may result in receiving citations, fines, and/or penalties.
Having a license tag on your dog indicates compliance with the state’s rabies rules, which are designed to safeguard your pet and the local community. Neglecting to vaccinate an eligible dog against rabies can lead to a citation and is deemed a misdemeanor.
The license tag can quickly identifying and reunite lost dogs with their owners. It also helps establish ownership and prevents assumptions of abandonment, potentially averting the need to take the dog to a public impound facility.
By ensuring your furry companion has a valid license tag, you are not only abiding by the law but also prioritizing their safety and well-being. In case your dog ever wanders off or gets separated from you, the license tag becomes their ticket back home. It’s a small but important step in being a responsible pet owner and fostering a sense of security for both you and your four-legged friend. Remember, a little tag can go a long way in keeping your dog safe and sound.
