Independence has been designated a Playful City USA by the national recreation organization Kaboom! The community boasts four neighborhood parks scattered throughout town and an almost mile-long recreational greenway along the Willamette River. Athletics are an important part of our community’s recreation demands, and local organizations offer a variety of opportunities for team sports and simple socializing.
