2022-19 Sewer Rate Study
This project will identify sewer rate needs for the next 5 years to pay for needed infrastructure replacements and upgrades. Sewer rate funds are used in conjunction with system development charges to address needs in the city’s sewer system.
2022-17 9th Street Pump Station and Force Main
This project is funded through a grant by the State of Oregon and will address sewer pumping and transmission to the wastewater treatment plant needs for the next 20 years.
2022-16 Asset Management System
This project will create an infrastructure database to manage system maintenance and track workflow. The city does not currently have an asset management system which makes it difficult to track system history, improvements, and other needed data.
2022-15 Pavement Condition Index Update
This project will assess the current condition of city streets, recommend treatment needs for the next 5 years, and identify costs for street maintenance and improvements.
2022-14 C Street Sewer Replacement
This project will replace the sewer main and laterals on C Street from Main Street to 6th Street. The project will be constructed in two phases and will address ongoing groundwater infiltration issues.
2022-13 Sunset Park
This project will include the installation of a nature play style playground, park trees, benches, and other park amenities.
2022-12 OR 51 (Monmouth St)-5th Street Safe Routes to Schools
This project will provide an enhanced pedestrian crossing at the intersection of 5th Street and Monmouth Street.
2022-09 Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade
This project will install an new screened headworks, piping between lagoons, and diffused aeration in the lagoons to improve treatment and water quality.
2022-08 Biosolids Removal
This project will remove biosolids from the wastewater treatment plant lagoons as part of the plant upgrade project.
2022-03 Hoffman Road-Gun Club Road Safe Routes to Schools
This project is a partnership between Polk County and the City of Independence to improve pedestrian safety at the intersection of Hoffman Road and Gun Club Road, provide sidewalks on both sides of Gun Club Road from Hoffman Road to Marigold Drive, and provide an enhanced pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Marigold Drive and Gun Club Road.
2020-03 Water Master Plan and Water Management and Conservation Plan Update
The project will identify need water storage, treatment, and distribution projects for the next 20 years and update conservation requirements for the use of water throughout the city.
