Work With Local Design Experts
Thanks to funding from the National Park Service, administered by the Oregon Historic Preservation Office, the city of Independence has hired local experts to offer FREE design assistance to help you think about how best to do the work while preserving the character of the Independence Historic District.
If you are interested in receiving the design assistance
please read the eligibility and contact us via the design assistance contact form below:
To be eligible for the design assistance
- An individual must own the building or have consent from the property owner. Additionally, the structure must be in the Independence Historic District. All proposed work is required to be consistent with the Secretary of Interior Standards for Historic Preservation.
- Funding for the program is provided to the City of Independence through funds offered by the National Park Service, administered by the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office.
- Receipt of the design assistance does not obligate an individual to move forward with a project.
- Work conducted on the project in no way indicates that the City of Independence has approved of the project. Additional review by the City of Independence and/or the Historic Preservation Commission will likely be required before any work can start on a potential project.
Funds are limited, and interested individuals will be served on a first come, first-served basis.
