Last night, Mayor McArdle had the honor of recognizing some of Independence’s finest with the Good Neighbor Awards—a celebration of individuals who embody the spirit of kindness, collaboration, and service that keeps our community thriving.
“Everybody knows what a good neighbor is. They’re the ones who lend you sugar or mow your lawn while you’re away. They watch your kids when you need help, and sometimes they’re there for you before you even know you need them,” stated Mayor McArdle. “These awards are our city’s way of saying thank you—you’re noticed, you make a difference.”
This year’s recipients remind us that being a good neighbor goes beyond physical proximity. It’s about building connections, lifting each other, and making a positive impact that resonates across our communities.
