Have you been curious about what our officers have been up to all month? The Independence Police Department is sharing a sample of the calls for service each month to inform and educate community members on the work we do.
In April 2025, officers engaged in 654 activities, including 27 Arrests (Adults and Juveniles), 13 check welfares, 11 domestic disturbances, 6 hit-and-run crashes, 9 emotional health calls, 39 Suspicious Activity / Person / Vehicle, and 7 DUII calls.
APRIL 2025
- Officers responded to a 911 call reporting that an unknown individual had entered a home and was found undressing in a bedroom where a child was asleep. The suspect was incoherent and had no explanation for their actions. They were arrested and transported to jail, where they were booked on multiple charges, including burglary and criminal trespass.
- Officers responded after a suspect threw a brick through a church’s sliding glass door and another into a nearby home’s bedroom window. A pile of bricks was found at the suspect’s home, and they confessed to all incidents. The suspect was arrested and transported to jail, where they were booked for multiple counts of criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
- After a lengthy investigation into a cybertip from the Oregon ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children), which included the execution of multiple search warrants by detectives, an arrest was made on several counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the First Degree for possession of sexually explicit images of children.
- Officers responded to a domestic disturbance where a fight broke out over a household disagreement. One individual was arrested at the scene and transported to Polk County Jail, where they were booked for assault and disorderly conduct.
- Officers responded to a crash involving a gray Subaru Forester. Shortly afterward, multiple 911 calls reported the same vehicle driving recklessly on several highways. Witnesses reported that the Subaru went airborne after striking construction debris. Officers later located the driver of the Subaru, who failed field sobriety tests and recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.29%. The driver was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail, where they were booked on DUII and multiple reckless driving-related charges.
- Officers responded to a report of someone throwing a deck of Tarot cards at their ex-romantic partner while driving past their residence. Officers obtained videos showing the suspect handling a handgun and posting about target shooting. Upon contact, a switchblade was also found in the suspect’s possession. As a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms, the individual was arrested and transported to Polk County Jail, where they were booked on multiple weapons charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm.
