Have you been curious about what our officers have been up to all month? The Independence Police Department is sharing a sample of the calls for service each month to inform and educate community members on the work we do.
In February 2025, officers engaged in 648 activities, including 25 Arrests (Adults and Juvenile), 16 check welfares, 15 domestic disturbances, 7 hit-and-run crashes, 15 emotional health calls, 43 Suspicious Activity / Person / Vehicle, and 3 DUII calls.
FEBRUARY 2025
- Officers responded to a shoplifting incident where the suspect was found in possession of drugs that tested presumptive positive for meth.
- Officers investigated reports of kids throwing rocks at a building and leaving graffiti. Footage was collected and shared with school resource officers.
- Officers responded to a theft at a store where a man stole alcohol after ignoring a clerk’s warning. He was later located and arrested.
- A driver was arrested for reckless driving and endangering others after an investigation into a November 2024 incident where they attempted to hit a homeowner with their car.
- Officers responded to a domestic dispute that turned physical, resulting in one person being hospitalized. The suspect was later taken into custody.
- Officers responded to a theft in progress and caught a person attempting to steal over $250 worth of merchandise by hiding it in their clothing and purse.
- Officers stopped an individual who was carrying a concealed handgun after making concerning statements to their fiancé.
- Officers responded to a disturbance at Riverview Park involving a dispute over a borrowed car. A firearm was brandished during the altercation, and the suspect was later arrested.
