Hello Community,
I hope everyone had a wonderful end to the year and a chance over the holidays to enjoy time with family and friends. The start of a new year always brings a sense of reflection, and this January marks one full year since I began serving as your mayor.

I honestly can’t believe how fast 2025 flew by, a sentiment I seem to repeat every year. This is exactly why I want to make sure I take this opportunity to pause and say thank you. This past year has been one of listening, learning, growth, and better understanding our community. And while we’ve faced our share of challenges, I’ve been encouraged by the number of productive and respectful conversations I’ve had along the way. So, thank you for taking the time to email, stop by, and say hello in the grocery store or at events – these moments mean a lot to me and I greatly appreciate them.
Your questions, ideas, and concerns help shape better decisions and strengthen our community, and I’m looking forward to our next Town Hall on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. This event will be at Parallel 45, in their event space located at 240 Monmouth Street (kids are welcome). This is another opportunity to come together, hear updates, and join the conversation about our city. Thank you for your engagement and your care for this community; I’m grateful to serve Independence and look forward to the year ahead.
In service to our community,
Mayor Kate
