Our crews started work this week at the wastewater treatment plant on a waterline realignment. This is the beginning of upgrades that include a new screened headworks, which removes large debris from incoming wastewater to protect equipment, improve treatment efficiency, and help reduce odors. We are also adding aeration to the lagoons to break down waste faster and upgrading the disinfection system to ensure treated water is safe before it is returned to the environment.

Infrastructure like this may go unseen, but it benefits every home and business in Independence by keeping water clean and our systems reliable.
