The City of Independence recognizes the importance of sustainable infrastructure growth through its Comprehensive Plan and Public Facility Plans. Funding public facilities is an integral part of this growth, facilitated by the SDC program. These charges are necessary to cover infrastructure costs required for new development. It’s worth noting that the city has recently completed a new master plan for water service, even though the water SDCs haven’t been revised since Spring 2004.
