The City of Independence is considering development of a new community center next to Henry Hill Park, the site of the former Independence community pool. The pool was constructed in 1960. 
In 2022 the community pool, which was owned and maintained by the city and operated by the YMCA, reached the end of its operational life and stopped working. The costs to repair the pool, if parts and materials could be found, exceed the city’s resources. To continue to use this site, a new pool or other development would need to be built. Results from this survey will be presented to the city council to inform its decision-making and course of action for this site.
