You may have noticed some heavy excavation happening behind the Civic Center. Don’t be alarmed; it was a leak.
September meter readings showed unusually high water usage, leading Public Works to identify a leak between the water meter and the building. After some excavation, a licensed plumber replaced the entire line from the meter to the mechanical room.
The new line is awaiting state inspection before the area can be backfilled and the concrete restored. It’s a good reminder that city work can sometimes take an unexpected turn, and it pays to be prepared when it does.
