At our latest city council meeting, Mayor Kate Schwarzler read a proclamation honoring our local student team for winning 1st Place in the Technical Merit category of the national Youth Coding League competition.
Competing against 46 outstanding projects, our coders rose to the top and impressed professional developer judges with their creativity, skill, and innovation. Each team member earned a $250 check for their accomplishment.
The Youth Coding League is a nationwide program that introduces middle school students to computer science through project-based learning and real-world coding challenges. Our local program is based out of the Independence Public Library, which has played a key role in supporting and mentoring these talented students.
Congratulations again to our talented young coders. We’re so proud of you!
